MakeIT at Libraries

MakeIT at Libraries is an NLB initiative that lets everyone learn about and try new technologies that can bring your ideas to life.

Use 3D printing, digital cutting, robotics and other forms of tech-based fabrication to make computer-accurate and complex items that may not be possible by hand.

We provide complete facilities and guidance for anyone to come and try their hand at new tech-based fabrication technologies, with a range of easy-to-understand Starter workshops where no expertise or experience is required. For safety, equipment and programmes are recommended for ages 15 and above.

 

Inclus

Inclus is a social business that empowers people with disabilities (PWDs) through gainful employment and independent living based in Singapore.

We match PWDs with suitable employment and support them in their jobs. Beyond employment, we support PWDs by training them in life skills and social skills to be more independent. To achieve this, we work closely with inclusive employers to enable them to have long-term sustainability and independence in hiring and engaging PWDs.

Microsoft products and services are designed to allow all people, including persons with disabilities, equal access. Inclusive design provides one experience for everyone, rather than separate applications or sites for people with disabilities. Learn about the accessibility resources for vision, hearing, dexterity, mobility, focus, and more.

Omnihuman

Omnihuman is an assistive technology glove associated to a VR game that provides an engaging way to regain movement for hand tele-rehabilitation. Using virtual reality and soft robotics, it creates an immersive and inclusive environment that transforms rehabilitation in engaging music-learning lessons. We developed a range of exercises related to fine motor control of fingers, creating a feedback loop that strengthen the link between the visual and motor cortex.

The aim is to create a device to tackle stroke patients’ lack of motivation to engage in exercises consistently, hence making tele-rehabilitation efficient, engaging and accessible.

 

SpedGrow

SpedGrow is a social impact startup that is dedicated to making independent living safe and attainable for vulnerable individuals. Our app offers a variety of budgeting tools and gamified learning materials that are tailored to meet the unique needs of vulnerable individuals. With the help of our user-friendly platform, individuals can learn financial literacy skills that will enable them to make tokenised financial transactions with ease and confidence.

Ultimately, we want our app to serve as a bridge to connect vulnerable individuals with banking services. This way, vulnerable individuals can be empowered with the right knowledge and tools to take control of their finances and live independently with confidence.

ISAAC Singapore, the official chapter of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC), empowers AAC users to actively participate in society by enhancing accessibility and resources. bGood

Grip Buddy, Makan Together, EdFlexi, iPush, KiapIt

Many individuals with physical challenges face expensive and non-customized support aids that limit their daily activities. NUS Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) aims to improve their quality of life. Through interdisciplinary learning, bGood, in collaboration with their faculty, students, and senior and disability communities, is changing how solutions are developed. Courses like Gerontechnology and Assistive Technology, along with product development, provide unique and affordable solutions not offered by commercial enterprises.

KYDZ International

Scanning Pens – for Persons with Dyslexia

Companion Pet – for Persons with Dementia

Since 2005, KYDZ have been dedicated to promoting play for all ages through unique, age-appropriate, and safe educational toys. They offer an international selection of affordable products, including exclusive in-house designs. Their clientele includes educational institutions, special needs schools, distributors, online retailers, retail markets, hospitals, and eldercare centers. They value customer feedback, observe children’s play, and engage in evidence-based research to enhance their offerings. Additionally, they provide informative resources on special needs, and for the elderly, they work with geriatric departments to create elderly-friendly toys that integrate therapy with fun.

The Levelled Field

A Board of Believe where visitors can leave their aspirations for the PWID community in the job sector and we’ll also be giving out stickers upon completion of a simple quiz. We’ll take this opportunity to raise awareness of how TLF is trying to teach the community tech skills that are in demand.

The Levelled Field (TLF) is a full youth-led project that aims to level the playing field for intellectually disabled youths. We aim to achieve this goal by teaching in-demand skill sets that are industry-relevant through a list of specially curated programmes. We believe that these programmes would benefit these individuals in their future career paths and provide a stepping stone to the working world.

Will & Well

A range of inclusive apparel & accessories and Give Me A Hand (a conversational card game by Will & Well).

Will & Well is a social enterprise and an inclusive fashion label founded to impact lives by changing how we wear clothing. Designing with the forethought of the marginalised groups – such as persons with disabilities, the elderly, and caregivers – the brand applies design thinking and technology to create apparels that provide ease, comfort, and dignity in daily dressing processes. Will & Well has since expanded its products and services to include workshops and tabletop games.

Flour Power

Find assorted bakes including cookies and cakes at their booth.

Flour Power is a dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs and marginalised communities through skills training and employment opportunities. They foster an environment where everyone’s talents are valued. Bake @ FP offers quality bakes, with skilled bakers mentoring trainees to develop skills and confidence. Learn @ FP provides skills training and workshops for Special Needs, including culinary and non-culinary workshops, with a customized curriculum based on Universal Design for Learning. Event @ FP offers corporate CSR workshops and a cookie station advocating corporate social responsibility.

Artably is a social enterprise which aims to build a more inclusive creative community through art & design. We design & collaborate with our differently-abled artists to showcase their talents, share their narratives & support them in developing their financial independence.
